Creative Resourcing, a specialist recruiter working within the manufacturing sector are currently seeking a R&D Scientist to work for one of our prestigious pharmaceutical clients.


  • To provide support for the development of new products within the Steriles Device Technology Team. To perform and document laboratory work/experiments and contribute to performance improvements and due diligence exercises, ensuring project milestones are achieved within agreed timescales. To complete any work within compliance, cGLP, HSE, Regulatory and customer requirements. To perform work packages to execute transfer of technology of new products to the manufacturing sites to enable on time new product launches.

    Key result areas will include:

  • To plan and perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations

  • To carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses;

  • To prepare specimens and samples;

  • To construct, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example tensile / torsional tester, Microscopes, Optical / Probe CMM

  • To ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced

  • To record and interpret results to present to senior colleagues

  • To use computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs

  • To keep up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability

  • To conduct searches on identified topics relevant to the research

  • To follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks

  • To create and maintain laboratory documentation.


  • Must have a degree in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline;
  • Must have experience in the Medical Device / Pharmaceutical Industry (Laboratory based);
  • Experience in Medical Device development desirable;
  • Experience of working within a physical testing laboratory desirable;
  • Must have knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) / Current Good Laboratory Practice (cGLP) Product development processes;
  • Must have knowledge of current analytical techniques;
  • Previous experience of physical product/ prototype testing desirable;
  • Ability to analyse, interpret data, compile reports and summarise the conclusion of results;
  • Materials Science knowledge of various material properties desirable;
  • Must have Knowledge and Application of Analytical Techniques, Method Development and Validation.
