Creative Resourcing, a specialist recruiter working within the manufacturing sector are currently seeking a Packaging Engineer to work for one of our prestigious pharmaceutical clients.


To set, maintain, monitor and improve automated packing equipment. To perform operational maintenance, be proactively involved in changeover reduction and improvement projects. As part of a team to ensure final packaging equipment is available and set up to achieve customer service and cost targets using lean principles. To help resolve those costly issues that frustrates the flow of product and services, to become ever more responsive and affordable to our customers, to strive for excellent compliance and credibility with our customers. To demonstrate true ownership for continually improving the packaging area and its processes allowing the department to be able to anticipate and respond rapidly to changes in demand and customer requirements.


To ensure Preventative Maintenance Program and all other maintenance documentation is completed to the highest standard, maximising machine efficiencies and optimising output at minimum cost in a fully compliant manner. Measures: Zero negative audit observations, internal or external.

Consistently perform changeovers efficiently and set equipment to ensure minimum downtime levels, minimum product damage/waste and maximum Current Good Manufacturing (cGMP) and Health & Safety compliance. Measures: Changeovers < 30 mins, target of 15 mins measures: Quarterly improvements towards objective of every product packed every week.

To ensure all equipment is operating at agreed standards to allow effective planning and achievement of customer service commitments measures: 100% Customer service delivery On Time In Full (OTIF) measures: Outputs 100% Demcap.

To provide technical problem solving within final packaging and to support the installation of new technology

To help improve equipment capabilities and capacities by identifying and implementing cost and velocity improvement proposals

Monitor equipment performance making appropriate adjustments and propose improvement activities.

Devise and carry out planned and unplanned maintenance activities. Assist, where required, in equipment installation and validation.

Where appropriate raise, investigate and complete non-conformances, action root causes effectively.

Owning any relevant Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) or improvement activities to completion

Measures: CAPA close out, zero late measures: Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) close out, zero late.


Minimum HND or above in Engineering

Experience of operating and maintaining equipment with Software, Vision Systems, Electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation

Control & Instrumentation training including PLC controls, software and camera systems operation.

Proven experience in a progressive high speed final packaging environment with frequent changeovers.

Experience of equipment performance improvement and management

Good knowledge of PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens), electronics and control and instrumentation.

Good understanding of electronics.

Experience of working within a Pharmaceutical, Food or FMCG environment
